Western Action
Western Action Match, now known as Single Action Shooting Society, is the fastest growing shooting sport in the world today.
This match mainly involves the use of single action revolvers such as the Colt .45 as used in the frontier days of the United States and depicted in every Western movie. In addition, competitors also use both lever-action rifles and 12 gauge shotguns from the same era. The variety of different firearms to chose from is endless
Unlike most other matches, here there is no set number of rounds or course of fire, with the particulars of each match being thought out at the start of the day, and a course being constructed with appropriate props such as cactus, hay bales, kegs, horses etc.
As well as shooting appropriate guns to fit this period, WAM competitors also act out the part by the use of period costumes and the adoption of a suitable alias such as "Texas Pete", "The Mexican", or "El Gringo".
This is the only match where your costume is as important as your guns.
